The Department of Chicana/o Studies, the Women and Gender Studies Program, and the Department of Native American Studies at the University of California, Davis invites applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position supported by the Andrew Mellon Foundation. We are looking for new or recent PhDs in gender/feminist studies, critical race/ethnic/indigenous, and arts/cultural studies; ideally in combination with a commitment to involvement in community development and social movements. Ph.D. must be in hand by July 1, 2015. Preference will be given to candidates with interests in developing activist research and methodologies. The position will be administered in Chicana/o Studies, with affiliation with Native American Studies, and Women and Gender Studies, depending on the successful candidates research interests, to be part of the Hart Hall Social Justice Initiative from July 1, 2015-June 30, 2016. Duties will include teaching three courses in social justice and critical race/ethnic/gender studies; two undergraduate courses will be taught in Chicana/o Studies and one graduate course will be offered in Native American Studies, and participating in the organization and delivery of the social justice initiative program activities. Other responsibilities include conducting research and collaborating with faculty in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students community and campus research projects.
