Presiding: Barbara Reid, Catholic Theological Union
Location: Sheraton Boston-Back Bay C (Second Level)
The title of this panel, “Pauline Landscapes,” refers to the complex spaces that are created by historical reconstruction, scholarly commentary, and theological interpretation of texts attributed to the apostle Paul. How scholars explicate the character of a “Pauline” text contributes to defining the image of the people who are its senders and receivers and the identity of its scholars and readers. The panel will explore as to how the commentary writers’ feminist perspectives and their processes of commentary writing has changed their understanding of the “Pauline” scholarly landscape.
