New Feminist and Womanist Interpretations of Hagar
This session honors the memory of former SBL President, Dr. Phyllis Trible (1932-2025), and her decades of groundbreaking scholarship in feminist biblical studies by inviting papers or presentations on feminist and womanist interpretations of Hagar, or of Hagar and Sarah, in Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Contexts. Specific topics may vary, and may include discussion of a range of texts, the history of reception and interpretation in global contexts, religion and the arts, interreligious dialogue, and more.
The call for papers for this meeting is open until 11:59 PM EST on 4 March. Full and student members of SBL are eligible to propose papers.
