Appointment: Two-year Visiting Assistant Professor, full-time position, to begin fall 2015. Candidate will hold a joint appointment in the Department of Religion and the Gender & Queer Studies Program. Responsibilities: Teach six courses each year over two semesters: three courses in Religion, and three in Gender & Queer Studies. In Gender & Queer Studies the candidate will teach a 200-level introduction to gender, feminism and queer studies, will develop an upper-level theory and/or methods class on gender and queer studies and feminist thought, and will possibly teach other 300-level seminars on gender and/or queer studies based on candidate’s area of expertise. In Religion the candidate will teach 200-level (introductory) survey course(s) and/or 300-level seminars. The candidate may also teach a first-year writing seminar. Qualifications: Ph.D. (ABD considered) with strong background both in Religious Studies and in Gender & Queer Studies and/or feminist thought. Candidates in Queer Studies particularly welcomed. In Religious Studies, candidates who can complement the department’s existing strengths would be welcomed, particularly those specializing in Biblical studies, religion in Africa or the United States, American religious history, Jewish studies, environmental ethics, or religion and the environment.
