I’m planning a Great Gatsby theme party this summer. I’ve long wanted to plan such a party as I live an idyllic New England community (albeit not on the Long Island Sound) where playing lawn games, drinking old fashioned drinks and dressing in 1920’s attire seem quaint rather than out of place. My desire for […]
My relationship with prayer in my christian tradition has long been as complex, if not more so, than my relationship with the church. Technology is most often referred to as a “tool” for teaching. However, in a recent bi-locational, virtual class, I experienced technology as meaning maker which transformed pedagogical style, power relationships, and the overall learning experience. Here I reflect on the various technologies used and how I understand them to contribute to the shaping of the […]
Spring has finally arrived on the Korean peninsula after a long, harsh winter. Forsythia, azalea, magnolia, and cherry blossoms are boasting their beautiful colors on campus. As I enter the classroom on the day I plan to show Pray the Devil Back to Hell, students are talking about an “impending war” in Korea. I ask, […]
Guest Blog written by Theresa A. Yugar. In 1970, Earth-day was celebrated for the first time on a global level. It followed a historic moment in human history where earthly citizens were exposed to and astounded by Earth’s beauty from afar, as a result of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landing on the moon, July […]
