HRC Scholarship and Mentorship Summer Institute
Academic and professional mentorship opportunity provided by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Religion and Faith Program and the Carpenter Program in Religion, Gender, and Sexuality at Vanderbilt University. HRC’s Scholarship and Mentorship Program for Religious and Theological Study nurtures and promotes promising theologians working in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer studies through an intensive Summer Institute which brings together 12 up-and-coming LGBTQ theologians and leaders as well as established experts in the field.
Program overview: Fully-funded, intensive 5-day seminar for up to 12 participants pursuing LGBTQ theological topics at the master’s and doctoral level. Students will explore how their scholarship can fuel a new dialogue around LGBTQ equality and religion in their schools, seminaries, congregations and communities. Students with all levels of expertise in queer studies are welcome, we know many academic institutions do not offer many opportunities in this realm, providing more opportunities for academic engagement in queer studies is one of the goals of this Institute.
