Add Your Voice to the Future of Women and Religion
Want to discuss the future of women for the study of religion or women as the subject of religious studies? Learn the history of and contribute to the future for Women and Religion in the American Academy of Religion (AAR). Join the live discussion on twitter – follow #AARWR40.
For over 40 years, Women and Religion (W&R) section has created a space for scholarship on and by women. This endeavor has been inter-disciplinary, inter-religious, and radically diverse as the study of W&R continually asks to how it simultaneously represents and disrupts the very categories by which it is named. Via a social media campaign (tweets, video, Facebook posts) responses to “What is the future of the study of Women and Religion?” will be collected into a multimedia presentation broadcast during the session and shared online. Founding and long-standing members, such as Rita Nakashima Brock, Mary Churchill, Naomi Goldenberg, Mary Hunt, Jung Ha Kim, Kwok Pui Lan, Joan Martin, Judith Plaskow, Rosetta Ross, and others, will respond to the media contributions in a fish-bowl style. All session participants will be invited to move in and out of the circle to dialogue on the future of studies related to W&R.
